MVHS Golf Coach Mackley was awarded Coach of the Year. Bob Ault of the Casablanca Golf Course was named Pro of the Year, and Willow Creek of Pahrump was named Golf Club of the Year.

MVHS Zephyr staff recently attended the Las Vegas Review Journal High School Journalism Awards banquet, where MVHS Zephyr staff received many awards, including an award for Best Editorial and Best Sports Photograph.

MVHS Students Help Fight Wildfire
This past week when a brush fire started in a vacant lot adjacent to the high school during the noon hour, several shop students helped man the heavy hoses and get them into areas where firemen needed them to help fight the blaze.

New Wing at Museum Named
The new wing of the Lost City Museum will be officially opened in June. The new wing will be named after Fay Perkins, who probably did more to ensure that local artifacts stay in a local museum. Perkins felt a personal interest in the ancient ruins that showed a city of perhaps ten to fifteen thousand people lived in this area.
