Local residents who happened to drive by the Overton Library on Friday and heard the strains of music streaming out, you’re not alone. DJ Tony made an appearance Friday as part of the library’s Summer Reading Series for kids.
Around 125 people attended the program, where dancing was the order of the day. DJ Tony has been participating in the Library District’s Summer Reading Program for around seven years, bringing the joy of music out to library patrons.
The event was held in the library’s side yard, where participants could spread out and “get into the groove”.
DJ Tony taught participants a variety of dances and reminded them that if they wanted to learn more, they could get information at the library.
One of the favorites with the kids was the limbo. Participants danced the limbo, seeing just how low they could go (which was amazingly pretty low!).
DJ Tony has been a DJ for 28 years. In addition, he is also a firefighter with the Clark County Fire Department – he’s been doing that job for 16 years.
The Overton Library’s Summer Reading Series is winding down. On Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 the library will wrap up the series with a Movie Matinee of Jackie Chan’s Around the World in 80 Days. The movie will start at 10:30 am each day.
