The Moapa Valley Town Advisory Board approved a waiver of development standards for Lana and Stanley Hardy at an Overton meeting on Wednesday, June 29. The waiver was requested to appeal the denial of an administrative minor deviation for the finished floor elevation in conjunction with an proposed accessory apartment.
Clark County requested that the finished floor be 18 inches above the center of the road running 400 feet in front of the property. The Hardy’s engineer felt that although the finished floor would be approximately 9 inches above the road, the floor would be 2.3 feet above the fields surrounding the property, which would be ample amount to prevent flooding.
During public comment, Logandale resident Billy Mildice asked if the home would be built at a height above the current flood zone or the new flood zone standards that will go into effect in November. Board member Nathan Hendricks stated that the new flood zone has no effect on what happens right now. The board voted to approve the waiver with Dustin Nelson abstaining.
As there were no other items to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned.
