Cappalappa Family Resource Center held a ribbon cutting event for its new thrift store on Monday. The event was attended by Members of the community, the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, and members of the Cappalappa Family Resource Center Board and Community Council.
The thrift shop which is located at 189 N. Moapa Valley Blvd in downtown Overton, has been in the works for several months.Cappalappa officials said that the store is one of the ways the Board of Directors is trying to make up for the expected reductions in public funding of the center.
“We’re really excited about the possibilities the store will provide to the community,” said Cappalappa Board Chairwoman, Norita Espinosa. “Not only to add low-cost shopping to the community, but also the opportunity to keep our doors open and help those in need.”
CFRC will be accepting donations for the thrift store. CFRC staff requested that donations be dropped off during business hours only. This will allow donors to obtain a tax reduction sheet and ensure that donations are actually received by CFRC.
The store will be open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 2pm.
