Magician Tony Daniels

Magician Tony Daniels performed last week for local kids at a show in Overton Library as part of a summer reading program at the library.

Approximately 200 people flooded the Moapa Valley Library on Friday to see the magic of Tony Daniels. The Clark County Library District invited the magician to perform for the community as part of its Summer Reading Program.

Magician Tony Daniels has been performing magic since the age of five, when he received his first Hogwarts test of magic. Daniels told the kids that he did attend Hogwarts briefly, but was expelled. He has since enrolled in the Acme Mail Order School of Magic, where he has been learning new tricks to share at his shows across Southern California and Nevada.

During Friday’s show Daniels inducted the audience into the League of Magicians so that he could teach them some of his tricks.

A favorite among the audience was learning how to make a yellow bandana disappear. The problem he had was that instead of a bandana in the box, there was a banana in its place. Daniels managed to follow the directions, including folding the banana not once, but twice, and make the banana disappear.

Another favorite was when, with the help of an audience member, he made a girl float.

Daniels is no stranger to Moapa Valley. In fact, he has been performing for the Clark County Library District for about 12 years, and has performed in Moapa Valley at least twice before. Many of the children in the audience remember seeing him, but were still awed and amazed at the tricks he performed.

During Daniels career he has performed for many noted celebrities including Dom Deluise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mickey Rooney, Seth Green, Christian Slater, Henry Winkler, and Albus Dumbledore.

At the end of the program Daniels turned his white dove into a white rabbit. He then allowed the kids to each take a turn petting the rabbit.

This coming Friday and Saturday, the Moapa Valley Library will be traveling to the Australian Outback, where participants will discover the ancient sound of the didgeridoo and make original aboriginal dot art. The program starts at 10:30 am on each day.
